OUR VALUES

LOVE

Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.

– Matthew 22:36-40

EQUIP

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

– Ephesians 4:11-13

GO

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

– Matthew 28:16-20

WHAT WE BELIEVE

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Holy Scriptures, both the Old and the New Testaments in their entirety of sixty-six books as set forth in its original writings, are the only written Word of God, divinely inspired, without error in all that it affirms, and the only infallible rule and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

2 Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

TRIUNE GOD

We believe in the one eternal and immortal God, who is Spirit, infinite in being and in all perfection, Creator, Preserver and Governor of all things, existing eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; who governs all things according to the purpose of His will. All three persons have the same nature, attributes, and perfection, but each executing distinct, yet harmonious operations in the works of creation and redemption.

Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14; Col.1:12-17

GOD THE FATHER

We believe in God the Father who was, is, and will forever be reigning on His throne over all His creations; who is sovereign, almighty, all knowing, loving and kind, holy and righteous; whom we address to Him as our Heavenly Father. When in His due time He will judge with His consuming wrath upon sin and all those who have chosen to sin and to rebel against Him.

Gen 1:1, Ex 3:14, Ps 19:1-3, Matt 6:9 and John 4:24

OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Eternal Son of God, who had not ceased from His divine nature as the Logos of God in His incarnation, but added on a true human nature, and therefore He is truly God and truly man. We further believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary; who perfectly obeyed the law of God, and gave Himself as the only ransom for all sinners and rose again bodily on the third day after His death on the cross. He ascended to the Father’s right hand and is the only mediator between God and human beings. Therefore He is the only way we can be reconciled with God the Father.

John 1:1, 14; Phil. 2:6-11; Acts 4:12; Matt. 1:18-25; 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 7:25

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the blessed Trinity, who was involved in the creation of all things and gave life to human beings, and now He convicts human beings of their sins, to make effective the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and dwells in every born-again Believer (as defined in SALVATION below), and by His baptism unites all Christians to Christ in one body. We further believe that we should be constantly filled with the Holy Spirit who empowers us with faith, love, hope, and spiritual gifts. He guides and counsels with wisdom, understanding, strategy and power, and knowledge of God in all our daily walk, worship and service, so that we will honour God and be transformed into the likeness of Christ.

Isa 11:2; John 14:17; 14:26; John 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; 12:13; Eph. 5:18; Gal. 5:22-23

HUMAN BEINGS

We believe that each human being is created in the image and likeness of God for a divine purpose as a holistic living soul with a physical body and a related spirit that connects the whole person with God and the rest of the Creation. Since Adam and Eve had chosen to sin against God, human beings have in consequence incurred spiritual death, which is a separation from God, in which is brought in the reality of sin, guilt, disconnection with God, total depravity, and physical death upon all their posterity.

Gen. 1:27; Ps. 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; 59:1,2; Romans 3:23

SALVATION

We believe that God in His mercy and grace, in accordance with His eternal purpose, saves all who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as personal Saviour and Lord (from here on referred to as “Believers”), justifying them through faith in the Saviour and giving them a born again experience by the Holy Spirit. Such life transformation experience will grow as a process of sanctification by the renewal of our imperfect mind, soul, and heart. Christ-like character is formed as a visible form of the fruit of the Spirit. We further believe that true born-again Believers are kept by the power of God so that none is lost; but the idea that this secure position in Christ is an entitlement for one to sin with impurity is false and contradicts the purpose of salvation.

Eph. 2:4-10; Rom. 3:22; 5:1; John 3:16, 36; 5:34; 2 Pet. 3:18; John 6:37-40; 10:28; Rom. 5:9; 8:1,30,38,39; Phil. 1:6; Heb. 3:14; 1 John 3:4-10; Jude 24

THE CHURCH

We believe that the Universal Church is the pillar and foundation of biblical truth and the Body of Christ, which is made up of all born-again Believers all over the world and in all ages. We further believe that a local church is a local congregation of Christians. Her mission is to make disciples for Christ in all nations. Her members are baptized on an acceptable confession of faith in Christ, connected with each other for worship, fellowship, care, mutual edification, and witnessing for the gospel, which is to proclaim the grace of forgiveness in Christ and experience the presence of God in this spiritual community. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of both Universal Church and local churches.

THINGS TO COME AND FINAL CONSUMMATION

We believe that the return of our Lord Jesus is imminent, at a day and an hour known only to God, and will be in glorious bodily form to establish His Kingdom of righteousness and peace, and usher in the new heaven and earth for the eternal Kingdom of God. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust, and in the eternal blessedness of the redeemed and the eternal punishment of the condemned.
